Learn English online with the British Council

Welcome to our world of English expertise

To maximise the benefit of studying with the world’s English teaching experts, we strongly recommend that you make use of our Student Portal to supplement and enhance your learning. With a great range of online interactive exercises, you can utilise the portal whenever you have a spare moment.

Who can use the Student Learning Portal

All students in our English courses for Adults, Young Adults and Seniors have free and unlimited access to the Student Learning Portal for a period of six months from the date of their first log-in. This means you can continue to use the portal beyond the end of your course.

I am a student, how do I get access?

Your username and password is emailed to you during the 2nd week of the course. In the unlikely event you do not receive these details, just drop us a line at learnenglish@britishcouncil.bg

When you log in for the first time, click on the Profile tab to change your password and edit your personal details. Your email address is required if you wish to receive feedback on your writing and advice from the Grammar Doctor, so it’s important you remember to add it!

How do I use the portal?

Getting started is really easy! Just click on the Study tab and then you can do your homework or browse for exercises of interest.

Homework

At the end of lessons, your teacher will give you 4-digit codes for activities that he/she feels are appropriate for you to do for homework as they are related to the lesson. Enter the codes in the Quickcode box and the portal locates your exercise immediately.

Exercises

It is also very simple to browse the site for any exercises of interest; searching by level, topic, category or key word you can quickly identify activities that help you to focus on what you want help with. Each exercise follows a number of steps. After completing each step, click on “Grade exercise” to check your answers and then proceed to the next one. Your grades will be available to your teacher so that they can monitor your progress.
