The Royal family is coming to Downton Abbey this autumn

Set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey, and touching on historic events from sinking of the Titanic, World War 1 and through the 1920s, the Downton Abbey series tell the story of the aristocratic Crawley family and the people who serve them. Full of splendour and passion, romance and heartbreak, scandal and humour, Downton Abbey is the most successful British drama series ever created. It has received acclaim from television critics and won numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries or Movie. It was recognised by Guinness World Records as the most critically acclaimed English-language television series of 2011.

The film, set in autumn 1927, is a follow-up to the television series of the same name. Re-entering the lives of the Crawley family and their staff, we see them encounter the biggest event that has ever happened to The Great house and its inhabitants – a royal visit by King George V and Queen Mary, causing a stir among the Crawleys and servants alike.
