All of our passionate and dedicated teachers meet the highest international standards with formal qualifications and extensive experience in teaching English to students of all ages. Our minimum requirements for teachers are:

  • education to degree level or equivalent qualification
  • a certificate level qualification in teaching English as a foreign language such as Cambridge University CELTA or Trinity College London CertTESOL
  • at least two years’ teaching experience
  • high proficiency in the use of the English language.

 

Meet the teachers

Romina Zhekova

Romina Zhekova

Having recently graduated in the UK, Romina worked in England for a year as an EFL/ESOL teacher. She has enjoyed every minute of her teaching experience and is very happy to have the opportunity to teach in Bulgaria now. Romina is very fond of experiencing foreign cultures. She also enjoys learning languages and quite likes literature (science fiction and fantasy fiction). A curious fact about her is that Romina is fond of Japanese culture for no particular reason.

Sofia Yakimova

Sofia Yakimova

Sophie studied British and American Studies at Sofia University and attained a CELTA qualification quickly after her graduation. While still studying, she started gaining experience of working with children as a teaching assistant and a part-time exam assistant. Her enthusiasm and dedication led her to become part of our Teaching Centre. In her free time Sophie enjoys reading Sci-Fi novels and she says she would like to take up drawing as a new hobby!

Soumia Steel

Soumia Steel

Soumia has the Cambridge CELTA and DELTA, and a specialist qualification in Teaching Young Learners. Before becoming a teacher, she worked for several years on EU-Mediterranean trade projects. Since then, she has worked for the British Council in Sri Lanka, Jordan and Oman. In class, she enjoys seeing a group of strangers slowly break the ice and open up to one another regardless of their age, gender and cultural background. Soumia loves travelling and is passionate about food.

Tanya Kirilova

Tanya Kirilova

Tanya is passionate about learning, teaching and communication. She has helped a number of professionals acquire greater confidence performing in English in the areas of banking, film and advertising, nursing, journalism, project management and so on. Tanya has an MA in Applied Linguistics and Literature from Sofia University. Her previous experience also includes teaching at Sohar University in Oman. Tanya is a keen walker, talker, dancer and a believer in the growth mindset.

Violeta Ruleva

Violeta has a BA in English and American studies from Sofia University, a Cambridge CELTA and is about to complete a specialist course in Teaching Young Learners. She is passionate about teaching and learning languages and worked for the British Council as a Teaching Assistant before she qualified as a teacher in her own right, something she had always wanted to do. Violeta loves travelling, discovering new cultures, meeting new people, playing the piano and reading in English and French.

Zlatina Filipova

Zlatina Filipova

Zlatina has an MA in English Philology, a Cambridge CELTA and Trinity College Certificate for Practising Teachers; she completed specialist courses in teaching young learners and business English and is a speaking examiner for Cambridge exams. With more than 17 years of experience with students from all walks of life, Zlatina is a cheerful, approachable person who aims to stimulate and inspire her students. She is interested in psychology and the arts, and enjoys socialising and travelling.
