Find out this year's most innovative ways to teach and learn English from around the world.
The British Council ELTons Awards Ceremony and red-carpet interviews will take place live and online on Monday 10 June, 17.30-21.30 UK time (19.30-23.30 Bulgarian time).
The ELTons Innovation Awards, now in their seventeenth year, are the international awards that recognise and celebrate innovation in English language teaching (ELT). They aim to find the latest, most original ways to learn and teach English, with awards for courses, resources for teachers and learners, digital innovation and for projects which overcome challenges to local problems (the latter in partnership with Cambridge Assessment English).
Innovation in English language education is truly international. Entries came from 45 countries across six continents.
This year’s ELTons finalists aim to develop 21st century life skills, through simulating real-life communication, collaboration and cultural awareness. Finalists include chat bots, mobile messenger apps, automated feedback and test results, video-based teaching and tailor-made learning platforms. Over half of finalists are completely digital and 68 per cent have digital parts. However, while digital learning resources dominate, physical resources are not going away anytime soon.
