“With reference to the question of Director of an Institute, the Selection Committee met three days ago and decided to appoint a Mr. H. L. Littler, who for some time has been working at Exeter University and has been in charge of foreign students.
Mr. Littler is a large, energetic and slightly pompous bachelor, who is keenly interested in university work and has been longing to get a Council job of some account abroad. I think that the Bulgarians will probably like him and that you will find he will be capable of a great deal of work.”
