Are there any microbial communities living in caves? And if so, which are they and how can they possibly live there? Dr Hazel Barton, Professor of Biology and Geosciences at the University of Akron, will talk about the subsurface adaptations on Earth and tour how these could allow survival on the extra-planetary bodies in the Solar System.

Hazel Barton is a world famous scientist caver and an extreme athlete who explores life in some of the most dangerous caves in the world. Through her work, Dr. Barton’s lab has been recognized as one of the “top ten most awesome research labs” by the Popular Science magazine. Become part of this memorable journey from caves to stars!
