Meet the teachers

Karina Velikova

Karina Velikova

Karina has a BA in British and American studies and a CELTA qualification. Her experience of working with children started off when she joined the British Council as a Teaching Assistant, responsible for the wellbeing and needs of all our kids’ classes. Nowadays her passion for language and teaching has led her to join the team of British Council teachers. Karina’s interest in teaching can only be matched to her creativity and love of culture.

Keneward Hill

Keneward Hill

Born in Peterborough, Keneward has a BA (German and Spanish), PGCE (German and French) and a TESOL Diploma. He has worked as a teacher at the British Council since 1999. Ken has significant experience of preparing students and examining for internationally recognised English language tests. He is CELTA and DELTA course tutor and regional DELTA tutor. He does translating and editing and has co-written English textbooks. He likes singing, cooking and swimming (not at the same time!).

Kristina Panteleeva

Kristina Pantaleeva

Kristina has a degree in Applied Linguistics from Sofia University as well as a Cambridge CELTA qualification. She has been teaching for more than 12 years, both in Bulgaria and the UK, and has attended a number of overseas courses. She enjoys the challenges of corporate training and adult classes are her passion because of the opportunity to communicate with people from all walks of life. Kristina likes spending time with her family and friends, exploring the mountains, skiing and horse-riding.

Maria Aleksandrova

Maria is a chemical engineer with a degree in organic chemistry. Five years ago she found out that what makes her truly happy is teaching. The English language and literature inspired her, so now she tries to pay it forward. Maria holds the CELTA teaching qualification and has been teaching teenagers and adults for 5 years. She has also been involved with assessment of students. In her free time she enjoys relaxing in the company of a good book. 

Marianna Isayenko

Marianna has a degree in English philology from Kiev National Linguistic University, an MA in Psychology, the Cambridge CELTA and a specialist qualification in teaching Young Learners. She has been a teacher for over 13 years and has worked for the British Council for seven years, first in Ukraine and now in Bulgaria. Alongside her work as a teacher, Marianna is studying classical singing at the National Music Academy in Sofia. In her free time, she enjoys writing and listening to music.

Maya Ivanova

Maya Ivanova

Maya has CELTA and DELTA qualifications and a Master's Degree in English Philology. She has taught the whole plethora of English levels and student age groups. Maya has gained vast experience in examining for internationally recognised English language tests. In her free time she studies foreign languages – French and Portuguese – and enjoys city life.

Pavel Velichkov

Pavel Velichkov

Pavel has a BA in English and American Studies from Sofia University, a Cambridge CELTA and specialist qualifications in Teaching Young Learners and Teaching English in Pre-Primary Education. Before he joined the British Council’s teaching team, Pavel worked for the exams department as an IELTS assistant. He currently teaches both adult and young learner classes, and in his free time he enjoys listening to and playing music – especially the guitar.

Plamen Evlogiev

Plamen Evlogiev

Plamen has been in love with the English language since he was six and achieved his dream of becoming a teacher at the age of 20. After working for the British Council as a Teaching Assistant, he successfully completed his Cambridge CELTA qualification and obtained NILE qualification in Teaching Young Learners. He is passionate about psychology and literature.

Polina Yavasheva

Polina Yavasheva

Polly has worked as an English teacher in Bulgaria and the UK. She has attained the internationally-recognised teaching award of the Cambridge University DELTA and holds a Master’s degree in British and American Studies from Sofia University. Polly has significant experience of preparing students and examining for internationally recognised English language tests. Being in love with life, in her free time she enjoys dancing, poetry, and travelling around the world.

Radosveta Simeonska

Radi has a BA in British and American Studies from Sofia University, the Cambridge CELTA and a specialist qualification in Teaching English in Pre-Primary Education. Before training to become a teacher, she worked for the British Council as a Teaching Assistant and as Young Learner Assistant at our St George International School partner premises. Radi enjoys music and travel, and often combines both in her musically motivated trips abroad.
