Teaching centre terms and conditions
Equal opportunities and diversity
The British Council is committed to a policy of equal opportunities and diversity.
We will do our best to accommodate any special needs relating to gender, religion, disability and any other diversity issues.
Safeguarding policy/Obligations for parents or legal guardians
British Council recognises that we have a fundamental duty of care towards all of the students we engage with, including a duty to protect them from abuse. We achieve this through compliance with UK child protection laws and relevant laws in each of the countries we operate in, as well as by adherence to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) 1989.
In line with our Safeguarding Policy, we will:
- look after your child from the start of the lesson until the end
- enforce our Collection Policy for Early Years and Primary age groups so that your child can only be collected by you or an appointed guardian
- speak to you if your child has been hurt during the lesson.
We would like to ask you to:
- bring and collect your child on time (Early Years and Primary)
- let us know if your child will be absent for more than one lesson.
Registration and course conditions
The maximum number of students in a class is 12 to 14 at the Krakra Teaching Centre and 14 to 16 at the Business Park teaching centre, depending on the course. Places are available on a first come, first served basis so we cannot guarantee a place on a course.
We reserve the right to close a class before the start date if fewer than six students are registered. If this happens, we will offer you a place in another class at the same level or give you a full refund.
Our students are expected to show respect to their teachers, their classmates, and all other British Council staff. Violent behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated and may lead to the students’ registration being cancelled.
Refunds and credit policy
1.1. The EU Consumer Directive allows consumers a right of withdrawal from their purchase within 14 calendar days of the purchase.
1.2. In case of a withdrawal within these 14 days, an administrative charge of BGN 80 is applied to the paid amount, along with a subtraction of the cost of classes already delivered on a pro rata basis.
1.3. After the above mentioned 14 days, a refund is possible only in the following exceptional cases, and must be validated by official documentation:
1.3.1. Relocation to a foreign country.
1.3.2. A serious medical condition requiring more than 3 weeks of treatment.
1.3.3. The death of a close relative or family member.
1.3.4. A change in school timetable which causes a clash with the British Council course schedule.
